2027 — New Generation
3.8L V6 Gives Way to 2.5L Turbo and Telluride Hybrid Power New Gen Engine Change
Gen 2 swaps the long-running 3.8L V6 for a turbocharged 2.5L four-cylinder, alongside an all-new Telluride Hybrid variant. Because turbocharged engines put extra strain on oil, severe-duty owners — think towing or stop-and-go summer traffic — will see shorter change intervals, while the Hybrid brings high-voltage battery checks into the mix even as regenerative braking helps brake pads last longer. On top of that, some software updates that used to mean a shop visit now push through wirelessly.
2023 — Refresh
Severe-Duty Service Arrives With X-Line and X-Pro Maintenance
This refresh year introduced the trail-ready X-Line and X-Pro trims. If you actually take yours off the blacktop, follow the severe-duty side of the schedule instead: oil gets changed more often, and the AWD transfer case and differential gear oil need a look after any deep-water crossing or heavy mud run. Models fitted with the tow package also get their hitch and wiring checked during service.
2020 — First Model Year
7,500-Mile Service Intervals Debut With the 3.8L V6 New Gen
When the Telluride debuted, it came paired with the 3.8L GDI V6 and a clear-cut maintenance plan: oil change, tire rotation, and a multi-point check every 7,500 miles or 12 months, a cabin filter swap at 15,000, engine air filter and brake fluid replaced on a 30,000-mile cycle, spark plugs at 97,500, and the first coolant service at 120,000 miles. Add AWD to the mix and you’ll also want rear-axle and transfer-case oil checked every 37,500 miles. Nearly all of that plan held steady clear through the 2026 model year.
