2023 — New Generation
2nd-Gen Niro EV Launches With a 64.8 kWh Battery New Gen
Generation two arrived with a 64.8 kWh battery, a 201-hp motor, and around 253 miles of range, built on the shared multi-platform architecture it has in common with the gas and hybrid Niro rather than Kia's dedicated E-GMP EV platform. Skipping the combustion engine keeps the upkeep list short: tires get rotated and inspected every 8,000 miles, and there's a cabin air filter, brake fluid, and occasional checks on the battery-thermal coolant loop — nothing to do with oil or an ignition system. Rather than a scheduled oil change, the reduction gear just gets a dip-check at the fill plug.
