How the Schedule Has Changed Over Time

2025 — Gear Drive Unit Recall Window
Certain AWD Build-Window Units Get a Free GDU Replacement Recall
A rear Gear Drive Unit welding defect is behind NHTSA Recall 25V-115, which applies to 2025 dual-motor AWD EV9 units built between October 11 and December 19, 2024; Kia's remedy is a no-cost GDU swap, and RWD single-motor trucks fall outside the recall entirely. It's a safety matter, separate from the regular maintenance calendar — look up your VIN below to be sure.
2024 — US Launch
EV9 Debuts as Kia's Three-Row Electric SUV New Gen
Built on the E-GMP platform, the EV9 debuted with a choice of RWD single-motor or AWD dual-motor drivetrains and a pick of 76.1 kWh or 99.8 kWh battery packs. With no combustion engine on board, oil changes and ignition-system work simply aren't part of the picture: the plan calls for tire rotation and inspection every 8,000 miles, a cabin air filter change, brake fluid roughly every 48,000 miles, and routine looks at the battery-thermal coolant circuit. The reduction gear gets checked as needed rather than swapped on a set mileage interval.

EV9 Maintenance FAQs

Where's the EV9 Maintenance Schedule for My Year?⌄

Pick any year from 2024 through 2026 — the plan centers on tire rotation, a cabin filter, brake fluid, and battery-coolant checks, with no oil or engine tune-ups involved.

Does a Big Three-Row EV Need More Maintenance?⌄

It doesn't. Just like the smaller EV6, the EV9 skips engine oil and ignition-system service entirely — the low-touch EV routine holds regardless of how large the vehicle is.

Is the EV9 Battery Under Warranty?⌄

It is. The high-voltage battery pack comes with a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty (15-year/150,000-mile in CARB states).
