The rows called out above are the bigger milestones. We plot everything here on Kia’s standard 7,500-mile grid so it’s easy to compare across models, though the Seltos’s actual pace drifts from that grid in a few spots. The 2.0L really runs its oil & filter every 8,000 miles or 12 months (that’s the figure shown), while the 1.6L turbo needs it sooner, every 6,000 miles. Cabin air filter service is time-based, roughly every 24 months (shown here as ~24,000 miles, though the exact figure isn’t confirmed); the engine air filter is every 30,000 miles; and brake fluid is every 48,000 miles regardless of engine (that lands nearest the 45,000/97,500/142,500-mile rows). Spark plugs split by engine: 96,000 miles for the 2.0L (nearest the 97,500-mile row here), or 42,000 miles for the 1.6L turbo — but only on pre-2024 DCT-equipped cars; that figure isn’t confirmed to carry over to the 8-speed automatic that replaced the DCT with the 2024 facelift. Coolant gets its first flush at 120,000 miles, then repeats every 24,000 miles on the 2.0L (shown nearest 142,500 here) or every 30,000 on the turbo. AWD models also need periodic differential/transfer-case fluid service, though we don’t have a confirmed mileage for that in our source material, so it’s left off this chart. As always, driving conditions move these numbers around — severe use tightens everything up. Your Owner’s Manual and our technicians both have the final word.
What Happens Every 8,000 Miles
- Full synthetic oil & filter change on the 2.0L
- The 1.6L turbo needs it sooner, every 6,000 miles
- Tires rotated and balanced
- A multi-point inspection
- Battery and brakes looked over
The Bigger Milestones
- ~24k miles — cabin air filter (time-based; exact figure unconfirmed)
- 30k miles — engine air filter
- 48k miles — brake fluid exchange, either engine
- 96k miles (2.0L) or 42k (1.6T, pre-2024 DCT) — spark plugs
- 120k miles — engine coolant, then 24k on the NA or 30k on the turbo
One Model, Two Powertrains
- Timing chain on both engines — no belt to worry about
- The 2024 facelift swapped the 1.6T’s 7-speed DCT for an 8-speed automatic; ask about any fluid-service changes
- AWD trims need periodic differential fluid service — your technician can confirm the interval
- Genuine Kia parts and factory-approved fluids, every time
- Stick with our Hattiesburg team on schedule — that’s what keeps factory warranty active

2021 Seltos Maintenance FAQs
How Often Should I Change the Oil on a 2021 Kia Seltos?⌄
The 2.0L wants full synthetic every 8,000 miles or 12 months under normal driving; the 1.6L turbo needs it sooner, every 6,000 miles. Either interval shrinks under severe use — frequent towing, short trips, dusty roads, extended idling — and drivers in that bucket often land closer to every 3,000–4,000 miles.
Does the 2021 Kia Seltos Require Synthetic Oil?⌄
Full synthetic is the call for both engines in the Seltos, the 2.0L and the 1.6L turbo alike. It’s what protects the direct-injection system — plus the turbocharger on 1.6T models — and it holds up far better through a hot, humid Pine Belt summer than conventional oil.
When Should I Replace the Spark Plugs on a 2021 Seltos?⌄
The engine determines the number: roughly 96,000 miles for the naturally aspirated 2.0L, but only 42,000 miles for the 1.6L turbo in pre-2024 DCT-equipped cars — that turbo runs hotter, so its plugs wear out faster. Since the 2024 facelift swapped the DCT for an 8-speed automatic, that transmission’s plug interval isn’t separately confirmed, so have your advisor check your specific vehicle.
Does Following This Schedule Protect My Factory Warranty Coverage?⌄
It does. factory warranty remains active for as long as factory-recommended maintenance is completed on time and documented. Have us handle your service and that record-keeping happens automatically.
