Not Every Program Starts With a Credit Score
Three manufacturer programs from Kia Finance America live outside the usual credit-score conversation altogether: the Kia First-Time Buyer Program, open to anyone who’s never carried an auto loan before; Kia Military Specials, covering active duty, veteran, retiree, reservist, and National Guard buyers, plus spouses of eligible service members; and the Kia College Grad Rebate, for buyers who’ve recently finished school or have a graduation coming up. None of these three come from a bank or credit union partner — they’re written by Kia itself, and it’s worth checking each one before assuming it doesn’t apply to you.
One Lender, Three Separate Doors
These three programs sit among the paths covered on the full bad credit financing hub, but unlike a bank or credit union offer, all three trace back to Kia Finance America itself — and each one opens for a different reason: no loan history yet, military service, or a diploma. Here’s what actually qualifies for each.
Kia First-Time Buyer
No auto loan on your file yet — nothing more is required to open this door.
Kia Military Specials
Bonus cash for active duty, veteran, retiree, reservist, and National Guard buyers — and for eligible spouses.
Kia College Grad Rebate
Bonus cash tied to a diploma already earned, or one that’s on the way.
Kia First-Time Buyer Program
No credit history to point to yet — this program doesn’t need one.
Eligibility
The Kia First-Time Buyer Program is written for buyers with no auto loan on record yet. That absence is the qualifying fact by itself, ahead of anything a credit score would otherwise decide. Ask your Dean McCrary Kia finance manager whether it applies to the vehicle you’re looking at.
Documentation
Ask your Dean McCrary Kia finance manager what to bring to confirm your eligibility for this one — they’ll walk you through exactly what your file needs before it gets applied to your deal.
Kia Military Specials
Service is what opens this one — and it covers more than one status.
Eligibility
Kia Military Specials Bonus Cash covers active duty, veteran, retiree, reservist, and National Guard status, and spouses of eligible service members may qualify as well. Current bonus amounts and the exact eligibility rules come from Kia’s own program terms, confirmed by your finance manager.2
Documentation
Documented proof of eligible military service is required. Because the eligible statuses aren’t all the same — active duty looks different from veteran, which looks different from National Guard — what counts as proof isn’t either. Bring whatever you have that currently verifies your status, and your finance manager will confirm it’s enough before the bonus applies to your deal.2
Kia College Grad Rebate
For a diploma already in hand, or close enough to see.
Eligibility
The Kia College Grad Rebate covers graduates generally within the past two years, along with buyers with an upcoming graduation from an accredited college, university, or trade school. The exact window and eligibility rules follow Kia’s current program terms.3
Documentation
Proof of graduation — or proof that graduation is coming — is what the program asks for. Whether you’ve already finished or you’re still a few months out, your finance manager will confirm which document satisfies the requirement for your specific timeline.3
Do These Combine?
Sometimes — and the answer changes with what’s currently active, not with the program names themselves.
The APR terms and the bonus-cash terms aren’t the same disclosure
Special APR offers from Kia Finance America move by vehicle, model year, trim, and regional market, and don’t automatically combine with every other incentive on the lot.1 That variability belongs to the APR offer itself — it has nothing to do with what makes someone eligible for First-Time Buyer, which is a no-prior-loan gate, not a rate program. Military Specials and College Grad Rebate are bonus-cash programs governed by their own current Kia program rules, separate from the APR terms above.23 Only your Dean McCrary Kia finance manager can tell you which combination is actually live today for the specific vehicle you’re considering.
Kia Program Questions
Can I use the First-Time Buyer program together with Military Specials?⌄
Sometimes, and it comes down to what’s currently active rather than a fixed rule tied to the two program names. Kia Finance America’s special APR offers move around by vehicle, model year, trim, and regional market and don’t automatically combine with every other incentive, while Military Specials runs on its own separate bonus-cash program rules. Ask your Dean McCrary Kia finance manager which combination is live right now for the vehicle you have in mind.
What documents prove I qualify for Military Specials?⌄
Kia asks for documented proof of the qualifying status itself — active duty, veteran, retiree, reservist, or National Guard — and eligible spouses can qualify too, provided they can show the same kind of proof. There’s no single document that covers every category, so bring what applies to your situation and let your finance manager confirm it satisfies the program.
How recently do I need to have graduated for the College Grad Rebate?⌄
Generally within the past two years, though buyers with an upcoming graduation from an accredited college, university, or trade school qualify too. The exact window follows Kia’s current program rules, so confirm your own timeline with your finance manager before you count on it.
Do these three programs lower my rate, or just add cash back?⌄
Depends which one. Kia Finance America’s special APR offers are their own thing, varying by vehicle, model year, trim, and regional market, with no guarantee every buyer lands the lowest rate. First-Time Buyer isn’t a rate program at all — it’s an eligibility gate for buyers with no prior auto loan. Military Specials and College Grad Rebate are bonus-cash programs, governed by their own current Kia program rules rather than the APR terms. Your finance manager can confirm exactly how the offer on your vehicle is structured today.
Ready To Find Out What Applies to You?
A soft-pull application costs nothing and doesn’t touch your credit score. Apply once, and your Dean McCrary Kia finance manager will tell you whether First-Time Buyer, Military Specials, College Grad Rebate, or none of the three apply to your deal.
1Special APR offers through Kia Finance America depend on credit approval. Not every customer will land the lowest available rate. APR offers vary based on vehicle, model year, trim, regional market, and program eligibility, and may not stack with every other incentive. Check with your Dean McCrary Kia finance manager for current Kia Finance America offers, eligibility rules, and full program terms.
2Kia Military Specials Bonus Cash requires documented proof of eligible military service (active duty, veteran, retiree, reservist, or National Guard) and follows current Kia program rules. Spouses of eligible service members may qualify as well. Ask your Dean McCrary Kia finance manager for current eligibility and bonus amounts.
3Kia College Grad Rebate requires proof of graduation (generally within the past two years) or an upcoming graduation from an accredited college, university, or trade school, subject to current Kia program rules and eligibility verification.
All financing comes through third-party lenders, including Kia Finance America and Dean McCrary Kia’s bank and credit union partners. Dean McCrary Kia serves as a finance facilitator rather than a direct lender, and the funding lender determines lender selection, rate, term, monthly payment, approval amount, and every other financing term based on its own credit criteria, including eligibility for the First-Time Buyer, Military Specials, or College Grad Rebate program. Ask your Dean McCrary Kia finance manager for full details on any program.
